Iloilo City Councilor Joshua Alim confirmed that he will run in the midterm elections next year.
“Yes, definitely I will run for a higher position. It’s either mayor or congressman. I still have to study kun ano gusto sang mga tawo sa akon; kun sa diin ako gaka-fit. I’m still praying for that,” Alim said.
According to the councilor, the experiences he gained as a longtime politician readied him for both positions.
“I’m ready to be an executive officer of the city, and based on my experiences, I am so ready for the legislative works like sa Congress. Sa kadugay ko na bala sa politika, 1995 politiko na ko,” he said.
Alim has not also decided yet whether to run as independent or under a political party.
“I can run independently. I can campaign hard and offer my services to the people, no problem with me. Kun may grupo okay man pero depende sa group mo. Importante sakon nga ang updan ko nga grupo pareho kami prinsipyo. Kun ga-kontra ko sa illegal drugs kag siya ya pabor, indi na pwede,” he told IMT News.
Alim said he is not afraid of whoever his opponent will be.
“Kun sin-o man kontrahon ko, I don’t give a damn. If I decide to run, kag kun muna ang pulso sang tawo, bisan five hundred lang na sila kabilog, bisan one thousand lang, I will not disappoint them. Wala ko nakulbaan maperdi, wala man ko nakulbaan magdaog. Kun wala ko sa politika, makabulig man ko dyapon because I’m a lawyer.”IMT
