Polling precincts in the province and city of Iloilo for today’s Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and barangay elections opened peacefully, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

City Comelec Officer Atty. Rainier Layson and Provincial Election Supervisor Elizabeth Doronila said no major poll-related incident has been reported so far.

Layson described the ongoing voting in the city as “so far, so good.”

“I hope that this [peaceful] situation will last until the end of these elections,” he said.

Layson claimed that the number complaints from voters are lesser in this year’s elections.

Mas magamay subong kaysa sa mga nagligad nga elections,” he said.

Missing names on the voters’ lists, Layson said, is the most common complaints at polling precincts.

“There were also misspelled names on our voters’ lists,” he added.

In the province, Doronila said voting is “smooth sailing” so far. “Matawhay kag wala sang reported violent incidents.”

Polling precincts opened 7 this morning and will close at 3 p.m.IMT
