Representative Ferjenel Biron has confirmed that he will run for governor of the province of Iloilo in the 2019 midterm elections.
In an interview over radio station Bombo Radyo-Iloilo on Tuesday, May 8, Biron said his gubernatorial bid has the support of Second District Congressman Arcadio Gorriceta and Fifth District Representative Raul “Boboy” Tupas.
According to the congressman of the province’s fourth district, the two solons committed to help him next year.
“I believe that their commitment remains,” Biron said.
Tupas and Ferjenel Biron are members of the National Unity Party (NUP).
Gorriceta, on the other hand, belongs to the once-ruling Liberal Party (LP).
Biron is also confident that mayors in the second, fourth and fifth districts will support him.
In 2013, Biron ran for governor but lost to Arthur Defensor Sr., who is now on his last term
Third District Congressman Arthur Defensor Jr., who transferred from LP to the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) early this year, expressed his intention to run for governor.
First District Congressman Richard Garin might as well run for governor.IMT
