The number of registered business names in the province of Iloilo increased, data from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-6) showed.
A total 1,765 business names were registered in the province from July to Sept. 2018. It was higher compared to 1,690 in the same period in 2017.
In the whole Western Visayas, Negros Occidental posted the highest number of registered business names in the third quarter with 1, 807.
Aklan came in third with 852, followed by Capiz, 576; Antique, 450; and Guimaras, 181.
All in all, the region had 5, 633 registered business names in the July-Sept. period, higher by 10.23 percent than 2017’s 5,110.
The number of business renewals in the region also increased by 52.3 percent from 792 to 1,206.
The DTI-6 said the increases “were an offshoot of the DTI’s revised implementing rules and regulations on Territorial Scheme of Business Name (BN) Registration based on geographical location.
“The scheme allows online BN registration in any field or provincial office that is within the territorial scope.”
The agency also attributed the increases to the establishment of Negosyo Centers (NCs) in every town.IMT
