Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III was “unaffected” by survey results released by Random Access Consultants, Inc. (RACI).

Based on the results, Rep.Jerry Treñas was the top pick for mayor of the city.

Treñas, who declared to run for the mayoral post early this year, got 62.2 percent while incumbent Mayor Jose Espinosa III was preferred by 29.5 percent of the 600 respondents aged 18 years old and above.

According to Espinosa, the results were “not credible.”

Pamulitika lang na.Ang gadaog da sa survey ang nagcommission man,” he said.

Espinosa revealed that the one who commissioned the survey “paid P350 thousand.”

The mayor, however, refused to drop names.

Sang previous elections nubo man ko sa survey pero pagkatapos botohay daog man ko,” Espinosa said.

The results first appeared on Panay News’ Aug. 8 issue.

Treñas was preferred by most of the respondents in all seven districts.

Only eight percent of the total respondents were undecided.

RACI conducted the survey from July 27 to 29, 2018 in 60 barangays. The city has 180 barangays.

The survey, which was done through face to face interviews, had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points at 95 percent confidence level.

RACI used multi-stage probability sampling.IMT
