Chief Inspector Raymond Celoso was relieved from his position as officer-in-charge (OIC) of Guimbal Municipal Police Station (MPS) effective Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.
Celoso became OIC of Guimbal MPS after Senior Inspector Antonio Monreal was relieved from his post.
Monreal was the head of Guimbal MPS when the alleged mauling incident involving First District Rep. Oscar “Richard” Garin Jr., his father, Oscar “Oca” Garin Sr., and a police officer happened on Dec. 26, 2018.
Chief Inspector Remy Alvaren, head of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO), replaced Celoso.
Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, IPPO director, said the reassignment of Alvaren was only temporary.
“Tempararyo lang sya kasi wala pa tayong opisyal na papalit kay Celoso,” he said.
“Kulang pa tayo ng mga opisyal ngayon dito sa probinsya,” Tayaba admitted.
Celoso took over the post of Alvaren.
The Garins, based on police reports, allegedly “disarmed, handcuffed, kicked, slapped, and spat” at PO3 Federico Macaya Jr. in the presence of Monreal.IMT
