The Roxas City Government is spending P1.7 million for this year’s celebration of Sinadya sa Immaculada Concepcion.
Dr. Bryan Mari Argos, tourism officer, said the amount covers all the activities related to the event, which is slated from Dec. 4 to 9.
“We disbursed the budget directly to each organizer,» Argos said in a press conference held on Dec. 4.
«My role as tourism officer is to ensure that all the activities are well-organized,» he added.
According to Argos, it is «impractical» for the city government to spend money for celebrities to perform during the event.
“We find it extravagant to have [showbiz] personalities,» he said.
«This year, we invited only one. Mr. Wowie de Guzman will lead the Zumba dance without pay,» Argos told the media.
This year’s Sinadya Sa Immculada Concepcion activities are as follows: Mass Wedding, Sinadya Jop Fair, Opening Sinadya Product Expo, Zumba sa Sinadya with Wowie de Guzman, Barangay Night and Awarding of Parol and Belen Competitions, Drums and Lyre Competitions, Arnis Invitational Tournaments, Opening of the Pamunsyon sa Plaza, Seafood Festival and Night Market Bazaar, Dama sang Sinadya sa Radio Todo, Grand Civic Parade, and Cluster Tribes, Mayor Angel Alan Celino’s Cup 2018: Sinadya Shoot Fest.
