Police Regional Office (PRO-6) Director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag said they would continue to keep an eye on reelected barangay officials allegedly linked to the illegal drug trade.

“Continuous naman ang ating intelligence at operation patungkol sa kanila. Part ng ating efforts na i-validate ang kanilang activities. In short, we are watching them, strongly watching them,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

Gemma Calzado, the sole barangay official from Iloilo who was included on the updated “narco-list”, won as  barangay kagawad of Kasing-Kasing in Molo district, Iloilo City.

Remia Gregori, sister of slain drug lord Richard Prevendido, was reelected punong barangay of Bakhaw in Mandurriao district.

Keith “Dabing” Espinosa, wife of convicted drug suspect Jesus “Jing-jing” Espinosa, was elected as the new punong barangay of Monica Blumentritt, City Proper.

Noel Odicta, brother of slain drug lord Melvin Odicta Sr., was elected barangay kagawad of Tanza Esperanza, City Proper.

Binag stressed that he respected the results of the 2018 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

Iba-iba ang reason ng tao sa pagboto eh. So we live it to them. Individual kasi ang pagcast ng vote so kailangan nating i-respeto,” he said.IMT
