Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief retired General Roberto “Bobby” Lastimoso’s son Rommel is running for mayor of Roxas City, Capiz.

Rommel, former First District board member, filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) under Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

He will face lawyer Ronnie Dadivas, former city vice mayor and now the Liberal Party’s provincial legal counsel, in the mayoral race next year.

Rommel resigned as head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.

He said he doesn’t want the city government to be run by a family.

Rommel’s father served as PNP chief during the stint of former presidents Joseph Estrada and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

His councilors include Brgy, Captain Midelo Ocampo of Milibili, Moreno “Moring” Gonzaga of Cagay, Rufino Dunton of Brgy. XI, Martin Antonio Pimentel of Brgy. I, Brgy. Kagawad Mike Xander Agrasada of Banica, former Lawaan Brgy. Captain Randee Albar, and former Brgy. Captain Wilson Acerbo of Mongpong.

Other aspirants who also filed their COCs for city mayor are Doming Belonio, Cheding Bermejo, Edmund Sia, and Wenceslao Diangco. IMT
