Twelve barangay tanods in Jayubo, Lambunao, Iloilo were arrested Sunday evening for violating Republic Act No. 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) and the election gun ban.
These village watchmen were identified as Remegio Libuna, 49; Jose Lavente, 62; Robert Cabolico, 53; Johnny Lebuna Jr., 34, Elmer Legarde, 43; Bernabe Larroza, 35; Sunny Boy Latoza, 49; Ernesto Legarda, 56; Carlos Esmaya, 64; Ernesto Lastimoso, 58; Federico Compliza, 48; and Johnny Lebuna, 57.
Recovered from their possessions were six 12-gauge shot guns, three .45 caliber pistols, two .38 caliber revolvers, a knife, and a .22-caliber revolver.
The twelve, collared by joint elements of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and Lambunao Municipal Police Station, are currently detained at the town’s lock-up cell.
Police Major Raymund Celoso of IPPO said the confiscated firearms have no licenses.IMT
