Parts of the province of Iloilo will experience power interruptions on Saturday, March 16, due to scheduled maintenance work.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), in an announcement over its Facebook page, it will undertake maintenance activities from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. along the Hamtic-Miag-ao-Tigbauan 69kV line.
The affected area is being serviced by the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO) I.
“Specific affected areas are determined by the distribution utility,” it said.
Department of Energy (DOE) officials have earlier assured that while electricity demand during the summer months will be high, power supply is projected to remain sufficient to meet these needs.
They clarified that the power interruptions will not be due to supply issues, but rather because of maintenance work on their facilities.
“We have sufficient supply although it will be tight. DOE (Department of Energy) will be watching it to make sure that we don’t have any disruption,” Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said.PNA/IMT
