Former Roxas City vice mayor Ronnie Dadivas, now running for city mayor under the Liberal Party (LP) in the 2019 elections, will file a complaint for damages against Essex Quintia of Dao, Capiz.
Quintia filed disqualification suits against Dadivas and incumbent Governor Antonio del Rosario before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Manila.
“The disqualification filed against us is a mere scraps of papers, unfounded allegations, malicious and purely harassment,” Dadivas said in a press conference recently.
He explained that his contract as consultant of the provincial government ended on December 31, 2018. “For delicadeza I did not renew my contract of service.”
Dadivas said there was no employee, employer relationship between him and the provincial government.
The disqualification charges stemmed from Del Rosario’s move to hire Dadivas as head of the Gender and Development (GAD) office.
The hiring, according to Quitia, was a violation of Batasang Pambansa 881 of the Omnibus Election Code.
In a four-page complaint, Quintia claimed that Del Rosario “unlawfully executed” a contract hiring Dadivas as head of the Community Affairs and Special Program director for GAD of the provincial government of Capiz after the COC filing.
He said that Dadivas received a salary of P40,000 montly. IMT
