Winning candidates Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, who ran under the ruling Liberal Party (LP), assured that they will give their full support to presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I respect the decision of the people. Ginataha ko ang ginboto sang aton mga pinalangga nga kasimanwa kag pumuluyo sang bilog nga Pilipinas,” Defensor said.

According to the incumbent governor, he will support all the projects and programs of the new president.

Mabilog, in a report by the Philippine News Agency, also vowed that he will be supportive of the Duterte administration, especially its fight against illegal drugs and criminality.

“We can apply in Iloilo City their good practices in Davao City,” Mabilog said.

The incumbent mayor stressed that the City Government will intensify its campaign against illegal drugs.

“We will provide facilities to help drug addicts overcome their habit,” Mabilog said.

Mabilog and Defensor are both on their third and last terms.
