The prestigious Galing Pook Foundation conferred Iloilo City’s grandest Dinagyang Festival as best Local Governance Project 2012.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said the city’s endeavor entitled “Community Participation and Collaborative Governance through Dinagyang Festival” won as one of the Top 10 innovative and exemplary practices.
“Dinagyang which has become a way of life of Ilonggos has been elevated to a higher level of excellence,” he said.
The awarding ceremony was held at the Land Bank Plaza, Malate, Manila, just recently.
Aside from being the country’s first religious-cultural celebration, the festival shows up theactive participation of the public and private organization 45 years since its first contribution.
The achievement is a concerted exertion of the local government- Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. and San Jose Parish Church.
Galing Pook Foundation is a resource institution that promotes innovation and excellence in the local government units.
The recognition is a multiparty involvement of the Local Government Academy of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Ford Foundation, and other entities from the academe, civil society and the government which advocates good and upright governance. Iloilo City PIO/IMT
