President Roxas Vice Mayor Danilo Diosaban blamed Mayor Receliste Escolen for the failure of the administration and opposition parties to merge in the forthcoming 2019 polls.
“Naghulat ako sa meeting para estoryahan namon ang coalition pero wala sila nag-abot,” Diosaban told IMT News.
According to him, after the negotiation failed, Escolen posted on social media their complete slate for the 2019 elections.
Escolen, in a radio interview, tagged Diosaban as “traitor.”
Diosaban refuted Escolen’s statement saying, “Indi ako traidor.”
The President Roxas mayor said he agreed to form a coalition with the opposition led by Diosaban but the latter allegedly created their own slate.
Diosaban is a member of the Liberal Party (LP) under former Department of Interior and Local Government secretery Mar Roxas while Escolen is an independent candidate who defeated LP bet former Mayor Raymund Locsin.
To recall, Roxas invited Escolen to his house in Brgy. Baybay, Roxas City to talk about the proposed coalition.
The two officials agreed to be tandem and pick four candidates for councilors each
But the agreement was broken when Escolen accused Diosaban of fielding his mayoral candidate against the former in the person of former councilor Boboy Buenafe, the brother of former mayor Rosario Buenafe.
On the other hand, Escolen chose Councilor Nonoy Alfaro to be his running mate (vice mayor) and adopted almost all incumbent councilors to be his allies this coming 2019 polls. IMT
