Iloilo’s La Paz batchoy will be featured in the World Street Food Congress and Jamboree (WSFC) hosted by the Department of Tourism (DOT) through the Tourism Promotions Board on April 20-24 at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
WSFC is a symposium, conference and mega street feasting festival that features the world’s finest hawkers and food artisans.
The event gathers leading international hawkers, food curators, bloggers and greatest chefs to discuss about food innovation, culinary preservation and success stories that aim to influence and ignite the passion of people about food and culinary arts.
It also serves as a culminating activity for the Flavors of the Philippines and showcase regional dishes that best describe each of the regions.
According DOT-6 Regional Director Helen J. Catalbas, La Paz batchoy best represents Western Visayas.
She said it will be served to an estimated 800-1,000 people every day during the five day-event by Chef Dennis Jay Uy of Maximama Cucina Latina.
The regional director is looking forward to see those who took part in the event visiting Western Visayas soon.
She said through serving La Paz batchoy, tourists can have a glimpse of the rich and flavorful culture of Western Visayas.
