The Department of Tourism (DOT-6), Iloilo Metropolitan Times and Radio Mindanao Network (RMN-Iloilo) successfully staged the first-ever Konsiyerto para sa Turismo.
Hundreds of people flocked at the University of the Philippines (UPV) Parade Grounds, Iloilo City for the concert, which aimed at promoting tourism in Western Visayas through local music.
Ilonggo artists Amabelle Pamocol and Deborah Faith Monsalud interpreted the songs composed by Serjoe Orven Gutierrez and Rossini Monsalud, respectively.
Gutierrez and Monsalud were winners of the DOT’s songwriting competition in 2012.
Three rap groups, namely Tumandok Crew, Eunoia/M.I.C. Music and Ilonggo Down South, also performed at the concert.
The event was graced by lawyer Helen J. Catalbas, DOT-6 director; Rhoderick Tecson, Iloilo Metropolitan Times general manager; and Ronnel Sorbito, RMN-Iloilo station manager.
The second Konsiyerto para sa Turismo is scheduled in December this year in the island-province of Guimaras.
