Fire incidents in Iloilo City almost doubled in the first quarter of the year.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said a total of 143 fire incidents occurred in the metropolis from January to March 2019.
The number was 96 percent higher compared to 73 incidents in the same period a year ago.
This year’s fire incidents destroyed properties worth more than P5 million, injured two firefighters and 40 civilians, and killed one person.
The BFP recorded 49 structural fires, 41 grass fires, 16 rubbish fires, 33 pole fires, two miscellaneous fires, and two vehicular fires in the January-March period.IMT
