Foreign arrival in WV increases

Pointing the country’s new brand “It’s More Fun in Philippines”, the Department of Tourism (DOT-6) asserted that it’s really more fun in Western Visayas (WV) after it partially recorded the 2.93% growth rate of visitor arrivals in 2012.

Based on the record of DTO-6, the previous year has a total of more than 2.5 million visitor arrivals wherein 675, 355 were foreign tourists.

Director Helen Catalbas of DOT-6 said that they are working hard to sustain and to increase the number of tourist arrivals every year in WV.

The province of Aklan leads the most number of foreign tourists with 478, 063, IloiloCity – 118, 362, Bacolod City – 45, 052, Negros Occidental – 28, 296, Capiz – 2,402, Guimaras – 2, 252, Iloilo Province, 520, and Antique – 408.

Dir. Catalbas added that DOT-6 is in one way with the government’s target of achieving the 10 million foreign tourists in 2016.

She believes that WV Visayas has greatly contributed to the booming of tourism industry in the country with its world-renowned festivals, resorts, cuisines and other tourist attractions. IMT
