Fresh grad, mother die in bus accident in Antique

A fresh senior high school graduate of a maritime university in Iloilo City was among the casualties in a bus accident in Barangay Igbucagay, Hamtic, Antique Friday night.

Earl Aron Omanio, and his mother Vivien of Barangay Boroc-Boroc, Belison town died after a Ceres bus fell off a 100-feet cliff.

The accident occurred hours after Earl, 18, received his diploma from the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU-Arevalo).

Earl’s father Edwin, 48, and brother Hans Gabriel, 16, were injured.

Another casualty was identified as Evangelyn Chicano of Barangay Guinbangaan, San Jose town.

The five other injured victims were John Lorenz Sanchez, 18; Lorie Mae Onera, 19; Janine Chicano, 26; Ramon Abellar, driver; and Eric Nepomuceno, conductor.

They were brought to Angel Salazar Memorial Hospital in San Jose.

The bus was traveling from Iloilo City to San Jose.

The Hamtic Municipal Police Station is still investigating the possible causes of the bus accident.IMT
