Government employees from towns in Capiz that have been put under the state of calamity can now avail of enhanced emergency loan.
Branch Manager Glorietta Dublas of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) disclosed that starting January 22 until February 20 this year, GSIS qualified members and old-age pensioners from Panitan, Pontevedra and Sigma towns may avail of the emergency loan.
This, after the GSIS Board approved the granting of said enhanced emergency loan program to its members, she said.
She added that the availment of emergency loan by active members with UMID cards shall be through the GWAPS kiosk machines while those for active members with temporary cards shall be processed through over-the-counter personal transaction.
“Old-age pensioners shall file their application over-the-counter subject to existing policies and guidelines especially on the validation of borrower’s identity,” she said, adding that old age pensioners with outstanding emergency loan shall not be allowed renew such EML.
Dublas explained that employees who can avail of the loan are those working or residing in the declared calamity area, on active service and not on leave of absence without pay, have no arrears in the payment of mandatory social insurance contributions and having no loan that has been declared in default.
“The loanable amount is P20,000 for those who have emergency loan account including those old-age pensioners, while those with existing emergency loan accounts can avail up to P40,000 less the outstanding balance of the previous loan,” she said.
The interest rate for the enhanced emergency loan is 6 percent per annum, computed in advance.
For the remaining towns that have also been declared under the state of calamity, they can submit their town’s declaration to the GSIS Office for deliberation by the GSIS higher office, Dublas said. PIA-6
