The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) assured Dinagyang revelers and spectators that roads within Iloilo City are in “good condition.”

“Our roads here are prepared for the weeklong celebration of the Dinagyang Festival,” said engineer Rodney Gustilo of the Iloilo City District Engineering Office.

According to him, various maintenance activities were conducted by their personnel for the safety of motorists and riders.

The activities include the “repainting of road lane markings and gutters, installation of directional signs, and declogging of drainage systems.”

“Maintenance works on the city roads are regularly undertaken by our office to ensure the smooth flow of traffic,” Gustilo said.

A huge number of local and foreign tourists are expected to flock to the city to take part in various activities in line with this year’s staging of the world-renowned festival.

“We appeal for the public’s understanding that are roads may be congested considering the volume of pedestrians and vehicles especially during the three-day highlights of the festival on Jan 25 to 27,” Gustilo said.IMT
