Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School ended its 11-year championship drought in the Dagyang Tribes Dance Competition of the Dinagyang Festival.
Ilonganon was named the grand winner after dethroning Tribu Panayanon of Iloilo City National High School in the competition held on Sunday, Jan. 27.
The tribe also won the Best in Choreography, Best Choreographer, and Best in Discipline awards.
It was in 2007 when Ilonganon last won the crown in the competition.
Panayanon, the 2018 champion, settled for second runner-up this year.It also took home the Best in Music, Best in Musical Director, and Best in Street Dancing awards.
La Paz National High School’s Tribu Paghidaet was first runner-up. It also bagged the Best Headdress, Best in Costume, and Best Costume Designer awards.
Tribu Dagatnon of Ramon Avanceńa National High School finished third runner-up.
Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School landed fourth runner-up.
Other tribes that joined the competition this year were Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School, Hugpongnon of of Barangay Lanit, Jaro, and Baryohanon of Bo. Obrero National High School.
Tribu Bola-Bola and Tribu Miro were non-competing tribes. IMT
