The Agriculture Office is planning to plant more rosy trumpet trees in Iloilo City.
This after photos of the trees planted along Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue or Diversion Road in Mandurriao district wowed netizens.
City Agriculturist Romulo Pangantihon, who heads the city government’s Beautification Program, said they “proposed” to plant rosy trumpet trees (scientific name: Tabebuia Rosea) along General Luna and Ledesma Streets, City Proper, and Barangay Buhang in Jaro district.
The eye-catching tree, which produces soft pink flowers during summer, resembles Japan’s famous cherry blossoms.
Rosy trumpet is El Salvador’s national tree. It can can grow up to five-meter tall.IMT
