Councilor Plaridel Nava will file administrative cases against members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod who repeatedly skipped their regular sessions.
Councilors Ely Estante, Love Baronda, Armand Parcon and Jay Treñas, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, and ex-officio members Irene Ong and Leila Luntao did not attend their regular session on Tuesday, May 7.
It was the fourth time that the seven officials, identified as allies of Congressman Jerry Treñas, were absent.
Parcon, Jay, Ganzon, and Baronda are part of ‘Team Uswag” headed by Treñas who is running for mayor of the city.
Nava stressed that the seven officials have the obligation to attend their sessions.
“Tapos na ang issue sa tubig pero they continue to boycott. In times like this, pwede man after elections maabsent kun wala sila malain nga motibo. It validates the fact nga indi sila maasahan sang tawo. They don’t deserve any vote from the people,” he said.
Nava is running for vice mayor. He belongs to “Team AlGoNa” (Alim, Nava and Gonzalez).
The councilor said several resolutions and ordinances were not tackled and approved because of the absence of Trenas’ allies.
“We need 2/3 of the votes. Since kulang, damo nahalitan nga tricycle drivers. Since wala maaprobahan ila franchise, wala sila pakaon sa ila pamilya. Amo man na ang road closure, kay damo activities subong like mga fun run so amo na epekto sang ila absence and the people should realize that,” he lamented.
Nava is expected to file the administrative cases on the ground of dereliction of duty and conduct prejudicial to the interest of the service before the Office of the Ombudsman within this week.IMT
