Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Director Senior Supt. Remus Zacarias Canieso on Thursday asserted that there is no shabu laboratory or marijuana plantation in the metropolis.
According to Canieso, the illegal drugs proliferating in the city came from other areas in the country.
He also said that some of the drug personalities apprehended in the city during their drug operations were not from Iloilo.
Meanwhile, the ICPO director admitted that he is clueless on President Rodrigo Duterte’s basis in insisting that Iloilo is a transshipment point of illegal drugs.
Canieso said they are now verifying if indeed the ports in Iloilo and Capiz serve as entry and exit points for illegal drugs.
Duterte tagged Iloilo, not just once but twice, as the “bedrock” of illegal drugs.
On June 28, during the 120th anniversary celebration of the Presidential Security Group, Duterte said, “I had an occasion to say it in public that it Iloilo who was the bedrock of…kasi doon dinadaan e.”
In his keynote speech at the 26th anniversary of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Wednesday, July 12, the president once again named Iloilo as the “bedrock” of illegal drugs.
“The Visayas was poisoned. Iloilo is the bedrock. Doon pinapadaan ang shabu sa Visayas,” Duterte said. IMT
