The province of Iloilo was among the top contributors to the boom in the Philippines’ construction sector.
Based on data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Iloilo ranked ninth in the top 10 list of construction hubs in the country.
From July to September this year, a total of 1,330 construction projects were implemented in the province.
Cavite occupied the first spot with 4,367 projects, followed by Batangas (2,677), Cebu (2,432), Bulacan (1,953), Laguna (1,750), Fourth District of NCR (1,690), Negros Oriental (1,638), and Bohol (1,638).
Pampanga placed 10th with 1, 291 projects implemented in the third quarter of 2018.
All in all, there were 42,111 projects implemented in the country in the July-September period.
The figure was higher by 16.7 percent compared to 36,076 in the same period last year.
These projects totaled P104.8 billion, higher by 45.4 percent a year earlier.
The average construction cost per square meter of residential buildings was estimated at P9, 249.
On the other hand, the average cost per square meter of non-residential construction was P10,952.IMT
