Former special assistant to the president (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go will be the keynote speaker during the January 27 highlight of the 2019 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival.
Jorvelyn J. Espinosa, Iloilo City Protocol Officer, said Go and Senator Cynthia Villar will be the official speakers.
The festival will also be graced by Senator Franklin Drilon, Ilocos Governor Imee Marcos, former senators Ramon Revilla Jr. and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, and former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
Whether or not other guests will be allowed to give a speech during the event will be at the discretion of the mayor.
With the expected influx of politicians during the festival, the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI) on Thursday released a statement calling on political strategists, supporters of election candidates and politicians to “be prudent about their speeches and presence.”
“Dinagyang revelers are here to enjoy the festival minus the political circus and campaign discourse,” said Ramon Cua Locsin, president of IDFI.
The foundation also “strongly urged” politicians and political parties to “please remove and stop littering Iloilo City with campaign materials.”
“There will be enough time for election campaigns after the festival,” Locsin added. PNA
