Councilor Joshua Alim has smelled something fishy in the construction of Iloilo City’s new grandstand worth P45 million.

Alim said he is planning to conduct an investigation to find out if the project, funded by the city government, was overpriced.

Alim said he was not impressed with the design of the new grandstand on Muelle Loney Street facing the Iloilo River.

Daw waiting shed itsura ya. Lantawon ta guid ang design kon paano na kalab-ot P45 million,” the councilor said.

Alim also expressed doubt about the quality of the structure.

Basi ginpadalian para makaabot sa Dinagyang,” he said.

The construction of the grandstand started in April last year. It was undertaken by contractor F. Gurrea Construction, Inc. (FGCI).

The project was inaugurated on Jan. 11, 2019.

The new grandstand was constructed after the old one was demolished to pave the way for the restoration of the Sunburst Park on J.M. Basa Street.IMT
