Being recognized for its top-caliber performance in effective and honest governance, the province of Iloilo received 7- million peso Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for seizing the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH).
The said amount was received by Gov. Arthur Defensor sr. from the DILG Provincial Director Rosario Maza during the ceremonial turnover atIloilo Provincial Capitol.nnn
According to Maza, PCF is an incentive given to the SGH awardees as recognition for their exemplary good governance performance in the areas of transparency and accountability, planning, and, fiscal management.
She added that it is in line with the President Aquino’s strong campaign on anti-corruption and the DILG’s “Tapat na Palakad, Bayang Maunlad” program which encouragesconvergence of local development projects with the priority programs of the national government towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), to boost tourism and local development, and in compliance with the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 and Climate Change Adaptation Act of 2009.
Moreover, it aims to put premium on the promotion of effective and honest governanceto create an enabling environment for citizens and the private sector to reach their full potentials as part of the Philippine Development Plan for 2011-2016.
The Seal of Good housekeeping was awarded to the province in 2011 for its excellent performance in key governance areas of planning, fiscal management, transparency and accountability, and valuing performance monitoring. IMT
