Former Guimaras lone district Representative JC Rahman Nava is seriously entertaining the possibility of running for the mayoral post in Jordan next year, a reliable IMT NEWS source, who requested anonymity, said on Friday.
According to the source, Nava hinted his interest on the post in a gathering of Jordan barangay leaders before the May 14 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) barangay elections.
The former legislator, the source said, is now weighing his options since Ruben Corpuz, the mayor of Jordan, is an ally and on his second term.
Corpuz, though, according to the same source, has dismayed his allies and has been drawing flak from the people of Jordan because of his very lame and distant leadership-style and the alleged numerous local government contracts his own company has cornered, which is entirely illegal.
The source noted that Corpuz failed to deliver what was expected from him by his political allies particularly in making use of the pet projects of Nava at the wharf of Jordan that has remained unused and has deteriorated without being utilized for public welfare because he cannot convince his local council to pass ordinances relative to it.
Another management problem of Corpuz is his failure to properly manage the Jordan Wharf, which is considered as the gateway to Guimaras.
The source said Corpuz cannot even maintain the cleanliness of the Tourism Building at the wharf where tourists and Guimaras residents pass through coming to and leaving the province from the Jordan side every day.
IMT NEWS has yet to receive a confirmation from Nava who is currently in New York, USA.IMT
