Governor Antonio del Rosario expressed fear over the possible depletion of seafood supply in the province of Capiz due to illegal fishing.
Illegal fishing practices, according to Del Rosario, “must be stopped” to prevent a shortage in the supply of their seafood.
The governor urged village leaders to help the Provincial Government in promoting programs and enforcing measures that protect the seas.
“Kon indi kita mgproteher sang aton kadagatan, may posibilidad nga ang aton grasya madula sa aton,” Del Rosario said during the mass oath-taking of barangay and Sangguning Kabataan (SK) officials at the Provincial Capitol recently.
According to him, fish and other marine resources of Masbate Bay have started to deplete due to illegal fishing.
“I don’t want this to happen here in Capiz,” Del Rosario said.
Capiz is known as the country’s “Seafood Capital.”IMT
