Tapaz Mayor Roberto “Nonong” Palomar strongly denied that P8 million in the town’s funds was missing.
“Willing ako mag patiro sa plaza kon kinawat ko ang P8 million pero kon wala kon wala madula sugot ka nga ikaw ang tirohon?” Palomar challenged ex-mayor Romualdo Exmundo who accused him of pocketing the government money during an assembly meeting held at the municipal civic center recently.
In his Facebook post, Exmundo also accused Palomar of colleting excessive taxes from the people of Tapaz.
He said that his accusation was baed on COA findings.
Palomar described Exmundo’s accusation as malicious and unfounded.
According to him, Exmundo is trying to damage his good records as local chief executive.
Palomar said their town received the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
When he assumed office, Palomar noticed that many structures in the town such as the municipal hall, public market, and roads were dilapidated.
Palomar, who is seeking reelection, criticized Exmundo and Mayor Rose Gardose for “doing nothing” to improve Tapaz.
He said his administration had incurred loans from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) in the amount of P250 million for the construction of all development projects.IMT
