Singaporeans, Russians and Americans are among the top nationalities entering the city via direct international flights from Hong Kong and Singapore to Iloilo International Airport.
The Department of Tourism stated that on its arrival report, among the 2,255 visitors arriving in Iloilo, 1905 are Filipinos while 71 were Singaporeans; 52 Russians; 47 Americans; 35 Koreans; 23 Canadians, 14 Australians; 13 British; 12 Chinese (HK); 11 Chinese (China), and 10 Germans.
Although the numbers are high, the figures are slightly lower compared to the 3,219 arrivalsin December 2012.
“The profile of the visitors is significant to cope up with good materials to promote Iloilo and the Philippines back in the tourists’ countries of origin”, said DOT Region VI Regional Director Helen Catalbas.
Other nationalities included are Malaysians, Estonians, Norwegians, French, Indians, Japanese, Austrians and Swedish.
Direct international flights from Hong Kong and Singapore first operated last November 8 and 9 2012. Flights from Hong Kong operate on Thursday and Sunday while Singapore is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. IMT
