Tribes joining the ati dance competition of the 2019 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival are now in the thick of their preparations.
Ramon Cua-Locsin, Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI) president, said eight tribes are vying for the championship title.
The competing tribes are the following:
-Ilonganon of Jalandoni National High School
-Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School
-Panayanon of Iloilo City National High School
-Salognon of Jaro National High School
-Paghidaet of La Paz National High School
-Dagatnon of Ramon Avanceña National High School
The competion, which is the major highlight of the world-renowned festival, is set on Jan. 27, 2019.
Robert Alor IDFI’s Tribe Committee chairperson, said Tribu Miro and Tribu Bola-Bola would take part but as guest tribes.
According to him, each tribe had already received P900,000 out of the P1.2-million subsidy.
Alor said the remaining P300 thousand would be released on the first week of January.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jose Espinosa III assured that the amount set aside for the tribes would not be affected by delay in the approval of the city government’s budget for 2019.
He said he is currently studying the 2019 budget submitted by the City Council.IMT
