Iloilo will showcase its unique products in an international expo in Quanzhou City, China on April 18-21.
Ritchel Gavan, head of the city government’s Local Economic and Investment Promotion Office (LEIPO), said Iloilo is joining the 5th Maritime Silk Road International Brand Expo (MSREXPO) at the Exhibition Art Center.
“We will be representing the Philippines,” she stressed.
This is the country’s first time to participate in the international expo.
A group of exhibitors, according to Gavan, will be sent to Quanzhou, the sister city of Iloilo.
“We are introducing Iloilo’s products to the world,” Gavan said.
“The exhibitors will bring our food products and hablon creations to the expo,” she added.
The event will be participated in by more than 300 exhibitors from 40 countries.
Around 20,000 buyers are expected to be present during the expo.
Lea Lara, executive director of the Iloilo Business Club (IBC), said: “We want to make sure that the products to be brought there are unique, distinct for Iloilo.”
“This is really benchmarking for Iloilo because this is the first time the Iloilo will be participating in an international expo, and we would also like to showcase how we fare in development, how products are being marketed and the preferences of international buyers,” she added.IMT
