Vallacar Transit, Inc. (VTI) has vowed to take “appropriate actions” to avoid the repeat of a fatal accident involving one of its buses.
Three people died and seven were injured after the Ceres bus fell into a ravine in Barangay Igbucagay, Hamtic, Antique on April 5, 2019.
In its official statement, the bus company said it “took all possible efforts to prevent all forms untoward accidents.”
According to VTI, it has fielded new buses, installed CCTV cameras, GPS devices, and speed alarms in its units, and implemented other innovations.
It is also “continuously conducting seminars to the drivers on proper bus handling, traffic rules and regulations as well as passenger handling and satisfaction.”
“Despite [the] efforts, this unfortunate accident happened. Our hearts go out to the loved ones of the victims and we are praying for the immediate recovery of those injured,” the bus firm said.
“We ensure full support and provide immediate assistance to the victims. Our nurses and physician are personally attending to the needs an in constant coordination with the families and friends of the victims,” it added.
Based on the initial investigation conducted by the Hamtic Municipal Police Station, the Ceres bus was running at a fast speed.
The driver, Ramon Abellar, claimed that the bus suffered mechanical trouble and lost its break.
VTI is conducting its own investigation on the accident.IMT
